About Thai yoga massage

Thai yoga massage (TYM) is a profound system of somatic knowledge based on stretches and targeted acupressure. It traditionally takes place on a mat on the floor, fully clothed and without oil. TYM utilises a combination of gravity and precise pressure, with the practitioner using their own body to stretch and release their client’s body.

This bodywork style is over two thousand years old and is known to have its roots in the Indian Yogic Ayurvedic tradition. TYM has been an integral part of the Thai medical system for at least a thousand years and it is widely practiced throughout Thailand. It has also spread as a wellbeing practice to many other parts of the world.

About Thai yoga massage sessions with Max

I use my hands, arms, feet, knees, and thighs, utilising my body weight to apply pressure to muscles and to draw your body into stretches. I guide you into TYM postures and as practitioner I hold the balance of the posture to enable you to let go into the subtle shifts and movements of your tissues. Some of the postures involve rocking and pulsing, which can feel very relaxing and reassuring. The approach is to improve circulation and flow throughout the body. Receivers report feeling lightness, fluidity, and a sense of wellbeing.

My sessions are 85 minutes in length (£95) to allow enough time to sink deeply into the experience and draw the most benefit.

I have regular massages with Max, initially to work on freeing up a pinched nerve in my shoulder, neck and pectorals. But Thai Yoga Massage with Max is so much more than that. They use various parts of their body to anchor, leverage, and counterweight my limbs. But above all, Max brings their intelligence, awareness and a safe kind of caring to the process, leaving me feeling lighter, rested, connected to my body in a deeper way, and conscious of a calmer mind.
